For many of you, the Darlow Bag might be your first-ever foray into making a bag. So this week we're sharing some useful tips for working with hardware. Use a Strong Needle When sewing webbing and hardware you'll basically want to using the strongest needle your machine can handle. A jeans/denim needle (size 100/16 – 110/18) will be strong enough to penetrate thick webbing layers. A topstitch needle (size 100/16 – 110/18) has a larger eye and is ideal if you're using thicker thread. Fibre Content When choosing the right webbing start by considering its fibre content and application. [Image Credit: Crea India] Nylon is strong and flexible, a good option for a cross body bag. Bear in mind it can fray easily. Polyester is UV-resistant and holds its shape well, making it a great choice for an everyday bag.
