Are you ready to make clothes you will wear, love and cherish?
In the Folds offers a monthly subscription that brings together patterns, techniques and answers your specific questions, all in one place, within the In the Folds community.
Curated by ITF projects will help you learn more skills, instead of just making more clothes.
Sewing a handmade wardrobe you are proud of is about learning the skills and building on them over time. With these resources (and access to our online community group), you will build a resource and pattern library that you can refer to on your handmade journey, empowering you to sew a wardrobe that you love, one piece and one skill at a time. We are excited for you to join us.

This Month's Project
The Darlow bag is a design for makers who are looking for something out-of-the-box to stretch their sewing muscles!
Inspired by our Darlow pants design, the pattern features striking panels that curve around to create an interesting and eye-catching shape, but also happen to make it perfect for colour-blocking and scrap-busting.
Make one for yourself and one for each of your friends! (Because you won’t be able to stop at one.)
Garment Details
Fun AND functionality are at the fore with the Darlow bag. Designed to be worn on the front of the body or on the side (over the right shoulder), this bag is both stylish and practical.
It features a side zip opening for the main compartment and a front pocket for storing smaller essentials. It is fully lined for a clean, polished interior finish. The bag includes a sturdy webbed strap with a buckle, plus an adjustable strap with a D-ring and slider for a customisable fit.
Suggested Fabrics
The Darlow bag is compatible with mid-weight woven fabrics with such as: cotton canvas (lightweight or midweight), cotton drill, denim and heavyweight nylon. Keep in mind that the weight of the fabric will determine the amount of structure in the finished bag. Choose fabric that has a stable weave and doesn't fray easily.
You will need fabric for the outer and for the lining. For the lining consider: poplin, lawn, batiste, and quilting weight cotton.
Fabric requirements and finished garment measurements can be found here.
The pattern lends itself well to colour blocking, and we have also included fabric requirements for colour blocking.

Mighty Networks community
Each month we work through the project with our Mighty Networks community. This means that you will be able to ask questions, share your makes and connect with other makers who are also on a mission to learn new skills and sew clothing in a slow and conscious way.
Difficulty
The pattern is placed at a Level 4 on the In The Folds pattern skill scale, and has been designed for advanced sewists and beyond, who are confident sewing with tricky fabrics and broad range of sewing techniques. Through careful drafting and beautiful finishing techniques, this pattern will make you feel very proud of both the inside and outside of your bag.
By working through this pattern, you will gain confidence in: sewing curved seams, working with complex and non-traditional pattern shapes, sewing zips, lining a bag, working with interfacing and hardware.
