For long time followers of In the Folds, you’ll know our Q&A series well. When it first began (and I was still a one person show), I simply wanted to share my knowledge and connect more deeply with the online sewing community. Likes and quick responses to your comments on Instagram didn’t feel like enough. I wanted to get to know you all and form a deeper connection with those using my patterns.

At first, I was surprised by the influx of questions - from the broad, to the very specific. With the ability to Google anything at our fingertips, I was surprised to see how much uncertainty there was and how many questions had gone unanswered. 

I made it my mission to answer as many questions as possible, freely and openly, but it did plant the seed of an idea. What if we started creating content that really focused on skill building from the ground up? What if we wove the answers into the content we were making, so you could stop wondering, stop procrastinating and just get sewing?

We all have enough clothing in our wardrobes. But what gets me (and you, I hope) back to the sewing machine time after time, is the magic of slowing down and enjoying the incredible things we can do with our hands. The joy of the making process itself and the thrill of sewing garments that will be worn, loved and cherished.

Here at In the Folds, it is our belief that if garments are made well, we take better care of them. With interesting and refined details, In the Folds patterns will become pieces that you will want to wear again and again. Finishes are thoughtful and considered, helping you to create garments that are beautiful both inside and out and teaching you skills along the way to make clothing that will last. Curated by In the Folds provides content for advanced beginners, intermediate and advanced makers. Don’t worry - whatever level you’re at, we’ve got you covered! 

Our aim is to make our patterns accessible for all. If you are joining us as an intermediate maker who is looking for new challenges, we're here to serve you. At In the Folds, it has always been our mission to teach makers new skills and build on the skills you already have. As an intermediate maker, you probably already have a wardrobe full of me-mades. Curated by ITF is about learning more skills, rather than just making more clothes.

Each issue is created for makers of all levels to enjoy. From hacks to get you started on your pattern making skills, to more advanced pattern making exercises, Curated by ITF will have it all. Our Fit Kits go into a lot of detail, so you can choose how far you are ready to go on your fitting journey. 

If you are an advanced beginner who wants to roll up your sleeves and get involved with the nitty-gritty and technical know-how of making clothes you love, come along for the ride! Be ready to learn plenty of new skills and begin facing new projects with confidence.

And for those moments when you get stuck? We’ll be right there with you in the Curated community group!

If you’re a complete beginner to making clothes then we recommend starting with our Collins top and Barkly skirt patterns to master the basics before signing up to Curated by ITF.

Yes! We will send you an email towards the end of each month, giving you a look at the following months pattern so you can get your fabric and workspace ready. To see the projects we have released so far, see here.

No worries! We know how busy life can get sometimes. You can still enjoy lots of sewing goodness without having to get out your sewing machine. Hang out in our online community group and learn on the go (you can even access the group via an app), get inspired by other makers and get your questions answered.

Be sure to download the projects and save them to your computer so you can use them in the future when you do have more time to sew.

In the Folds patterns are currently available in sizes between Australian size 6 and 24. More details can be found here. Patterns are drafted for a B cup bust, so please refer to the finished garment measurements on the pattern to work out if you need to make an adjustment. Patterns are drafted for height of 170cm (5'7") and include lengthen and shorten lines so that you can adjust the pattern to suit your height.

We apologise if our size chart currently excludes you. We will be getting to work on expanding our size range later this year (2021). We look forward to serving more makers with our new offering.

We know a lot of you are yearning for an online community that is outside of traditional social media. Our group is hosted on Mighty Networks, which means you don't need a social media account to join and can access the group from an app. It also has some cool features like being able to find members near you or connect with members with similar interests to you. In-person sewing friends, here we come!

We'll help you get your account set-up and be there as you learn how to use this new and very exciting platform.

Mighty Networks can be accessed via an app (on smartphone or tablet) or on a desktop version, so you can access the resources in a way that suits you.

You will continue to have access to Mighty Networks until June 2026.

Some of our projects will be available outside of the Curated by In the Folds subscription, but not right away. We will initially release each project in PDF format to our subscribers.

For our non-subscription makers, we'll release some of the patterns and content for individual purchase after it is first released in our subscription. When patterns are released, their cost will be higher than the $15 / $18 per month of the subscription.

We don't have a set date for these releases just yet - stay tuned! To save missing out and to get first access to all our patterns and content, we suggest joining our community.

You may be able to purchase the resources individually when we release the accompanying pattern at a later date. At this stage, we'll be focusing on creating for our subscription community, so if you're eager to get access to the patterns and content first, you can sign up and start receiving resources straight away.

You can cancel your subscription anytime. Please note all subscriptions will automatically end December 31st, 2025. 
1. Create an account on our website (make sure you use the same email address that you used to create the subscription). If you have already created an account, simply login.
2. Select the profile icon in the top right of the page.
3. Select “Manage subscriptions.” This will take you to our subscription portal.
4. Select the subscription tab to view your active subscriptions.
5. Select subscription and scroll to the bottom of the page to “cancel subscription.” (Alternatively, you can just skip the next month).
6. Follow prompts to finalise cancellation.

We know how busy life can get. Skip a month at any time by logging into your account and selecting "Manage subscriptions" from the account page.

If you would like to purchase the membership for you and a friend or family member, add the Skill Sharer membership to your cart and put your friend's name and email address in the checkout comments and we'll add them to the subscriber list. This will give you both a recurring membership. Please be aware that at this stage, gifted memberships are a manual process (we're working on it), which means your friend or loved one will not receive the project instantly.

Curated will be ending in 2025 so December will be your last payment and our final issue.

Sign-up by the second last day of the month to receive the current month's project.

Skill Builder, Super Supporter & Skill Sharer subscription tier
For the Skill Builder, Super Supporter and Skill Sharer subscription tiers, you will be charged when you first sign up and receive the current project directly to your inbox. After that, you will be charged on the first of each month and receive your new project on the first of each month, with December 2025 being the dinal month of Curated and your final automatic payment. Billing is handled by a US company so the charge is processed in US Eastern Time. You will receive the project after payment has been processed.

Supporter subscription tier
For the Supporter subscription tier, you will be charged at the time you sign-up and then each month on that same date. For example, if you sign up on September 5th, you will be charged on October 5th (and so on).

Yes! You can sign-up at any time during the month to receive the current issue of Curated by In the Folds.

From the second billing month, your charge date will change to the first of the month and you will receive the new project at the beginning of the month.
