Sewing Mindset Journal
Our brains have an amazing ability to push us to do things we never thought possible. Yet on the other hand, they can completely stop us in our tracks.
If you’ve ever experienced a sewing funk, you’ll know exactly how hard it can be to break. It can feel like there’s no rhyme or reason to why we can’t get started on that project we really want to sew. Ordinary things feel hard. Motivation is through the floor. And procrastination? Sky high.
That’s why the start of a new year is the perfect time to do a sewing mindset reset, and our Sewing Mindset Journal will help you do just that.
Our Sewing Mindset Journal is designed to support your sewing journey and help you develop a positive and productive mindset towards your creative practice. Covering the steps to follow to find your sewing motivation again, this journal is a comforting place to go when you’re feeling unmotivated, overwhelmed or just don't know how to start.
Throughout its pages, you’ll find exercises, prompts, and reflections that encourage you to explore your motivations, set goals, and overcome challenges. Use this journal as a safe space to document your thoughts, track your progress, and celebrate your achievements in your sewing journey as a whole. Or, use it to help you zone in on a project that fits your current motivation and time commitment.
And the cherry on top? You can return to this journal as many times as you and your sewing practice need.
The journal is split into four parts:
REFLECT
Consider your sewing practice by connecting with your ‘why’, recognise your progress, and take pride in the pieces you’ve created. Use this information to help inform future projects.
PROJECT PLANNING
Learn how to set yourself up for success by planning the projects you want to make. Figure out what you need to do to get into a state of creative flow, and zone in on a project to tackle this month while working through the exercises.
OVERCOMING OBSTACLES
Learn from past challenges, break down sewing projects into manageable steps and make time for sewing when life is busy.
UNFINISHED PROJECTS
We’ll help you make a plan for those unfinished sewing projects, and provide guidance on recognising when to move forward or let go of a project.
Mighty Networks group
By purchasing this issue you will gain access to the extra resources we shared in our online community when we released the project. This means that you will be able to ask questions, share your makes and connect with other makers who are also on a mission to learn new skills and sew clothing in a slow and conscious way.
Difficulty
Whether you’re an experienced sewist or just starting out, this journal will empower you to approach your projects with clarity and confidence, ensuring that each stitch brings you closer to your creative goals.
