Barkly skirt

Regular price $22.00

Garment details

The Barkly skirt is a panelled A-line skirt with pockets and a range of interesting and fun to sew details. It has been designed to be worn all year round - in summer in soft linens with sandals and in winter in denim with tights and boots.

View A sits on the natural waist (the top of the waistband will sit just above the natural waist) and features a shaped waistband, slanted pockets that are inset in the side panels and a hem facing.

View B sits just below the natural waist (as it features a waist facing, rather than a waistband), has patch pockets (which are therefore optional), and side splits in the hem.

Both styles feature a centre back invisible zip for a clean finish.

Styles can be mixed and matched so that you can combine your style preferences. More information can be found in the STYLE VARIATION KIT.

This pattern is available in our new extended size range. More details about In the Folds sizing can be found here

This pattern is also available as a bundle with the Barkly skirt Fit Kit and Barkly skirt Hack Kit

      This is a great skirt!

I had a great time sewing this up. I am an advanced beginner, and so took my time to get everything right. I'm glad I made a toile as suggested -- I had graded between sizes and measured the waistband incorrectly, but that was easy to fix in the final version. I really love the pocket construction, and how the panels make the skirt fit really well over all. I'm definitely going to make more of them (just trying to decide what sort of fabric to use).

      Lovely pattern

Great pattern, beautifully constructed and easy to follow. I am so pleased with the results and as it is so versatile I plan to make again with a different weight fabric.

Thank you Rach! We are so happy to hear this.

      Super-flattering, easily adaptable

I've already gotten tons of compliments on this skirt, I've now made two versions of it. And *pockets* yay!
I combined the waist facing of View B with the length and styling of View A and that small hack was made easier by how well-designed the pattern pieces are, everything works together so well. I especially like that you can print just the layers you want from the PDF, which simplifies the cutting a lot.
The instructions are easy to follow, breaks it down to every small step. I found it helped a lot to make a toile version first to check the fit and practice setting in the zipper and turning the waistband which I found to be the hardest part. I look forward to making many other versions, maybe one with a lining next time.

Thank you so much for your wonderful review, Tona! We are so pleased our Barkly skirt is getting so much love. Happy sewing!

      Beautiful Barkly

A beautifully designed and drafted pattern. Clear instructions, notches that match, super easy pockets and a curved waistband. I loved making and I love wearing this skirt. My wearable toile is a very well worn toile. I think this is the perfect template for many variations and I’m looking forward to trying some.

So glad you love this pattern so much, Andrea! And a well-worn toile is music to our sustainable sewing loving ears!
