Rennie dress

The Rennie Dress is a boxy, relaxed fitting calf-length dress made for easy dressing. It may look like a fairly simple sew, but don’t be fooled! The Rennie dress pattern incorporates a range of finishing techniques for a beautifully finished garment. This pattern will elevate your wardrobe and your sewing skills!

Garment Details

View A is sleeveless, featuring bust darts and side splits in the hem. Neck and armholes are finished with bias binding.

View B has a dropped shoulder, three-quarter length sleeves, neck facing, patch pockets and side splits in the hem. In the extended size range (drafted for a D cup sewing bust cup size) View B includes a bust dart to ensure a lovely fit.

An optional shaped belt is included in the pattern and can be used with either view to alter the silhouette.

Please note: This product can only be purchased by current Curated by ITF subscribers. If you would like to sign-up you can do so here.

Suggested Fabrics

The Rennie Dress is compatible with light to mid-weight fabrics with a good amount of drape such as: linen, linen blends, cotton, gauze or chambray. For a softer silhouette, consider sateen, silk (crepe de chine or habotai) or viscose (rayon). These fabrics are a little trickier to sew, so please be careful if you are a beginner.

Fabric requirements and finished garment measurements can be found here.

Notions

  • Coordinating thread

  • View A only: 2.7m (3 yds) x 32mm (1¼in) single-fold bias tape (if using pre-made binding this is 12mm (½in))

  • View B only: 0.5m (0.5yds) x light to mid-weight fusible interfacing to add structure to neck facing (optional).

The pattern is available in both sizes A - J (drafted for a B cup sewing bust cup size) and sizes G - P (drafted for a D cup sewing bust cup size). Our size charts can be found here.

The Rennie Dress is designed to be relaxed in fit. Select a size based on your high bust measurement. There is considerable ease in the bust area of the pattern. We suggest checking the finished garment measurements for your size before choosing to do a Full Bust Adjustment (FBA).

This pattern is drafted for a height of 170cm (5’7”). Use the LENGTHEN/SHORTEN line on the pattern to make alterations to the length.

Fabric requirements and finished garment measurements can be found here.

Pattern includes seam allowances.
