Collins top Kit - Blue stripe linen
Get everything you need to make yourself a gorgeous new top!
I get a lot of questions from sewists about choosing the correct fabric for the pattern, and with these new project kits, you can leave the guesswork to me. Each pattern has been paired with a fabric that matches beautifully and really highlights the details of the pattern.
In the Folds patterns encourage makers to use sewing as an opportunity to make clothing that will be worn, loved and cherished so that we can minimise the impact our clothing choices have on the environment. Due to this, all fabrics have been sourced from designer deadstock (the fabric has been leftover from a designer’s collection) and notions and thread where possible. There are a limited number of kits available due to this and once they are sold out, this particular fabric and pattern combination will not be available again.
In the case of the Collins top, I chose this light and breezy linen that works beautifully, while the stripes provide and opportunity to play with stripe direction and highlight the different panel lines in the design.
- The Collins top paper pattern
- Yardage of linen (yardage based on View A and is enough to make any size included in the pattern)
- Pre-cut bias binding for finishing the neckline
- 1 spool of Rasant thread to match
- 1 coordinating button for neck closure
The pattern is placed at a Level 1.5 on the In the Folds pattern skill scale, and was designed with beginners in mind. If you have mastered straight and curved seams, you’re ready to take on this pattern. Through careful drafting and interesting techniques, this pattern will give you that confidence boost you have been looking for.
By working through this pattern, you will gain confidence in: sewing straight seams, sewing curved seams, piecing panels together, achieving a beautiful finish, working with bias binding (view A only) and finishing a garment with an all-in-one facing (view B only).
The pattern is available in 10 sizes (A - J, which equates to Australian sizes 6-24) and is nested, to make it easier for you to grade between sizes.
In the Folds patterns are drafted for a B cup bust. Please check the finished garment measurements chart in the pattern, before deciding whether or not you need to make an adjustment.
Patterns are drafted for height of 170cm (5'7") and include a ‘lengthen / shorten line’ so you can make adjustments to suit your height.
Fabric requirements and finished garment measurements can be found here.
Pattern includes seam allowances.
