A fresh take on a timeless wardrobe staple, the Burwood jeans fuse traditional denim details with modern design lines to create a versatile pattern with options for year-round wear.
Garment Details
The Burwood jeans bring structure and subtle volume to a silhouette that feels both contemporary and classic.
Tailored pleats and slanted front pockets add a soft contrast to the design, while a shaped waistband and back yoke provide a contoured fit through the waist and hips. Traditional elements like a zip fly front, patch pockets and belt loops ground the design in jeans-making heritage.
Whether you highlight the details with classic topstitching or opt for a cleaner look with matching thread, the Burwood jeans invite you to make them your own!
Suggested Fabrics
The Burwood jeans are compatible with medium to heavy weight denim fabrics with no stretch. You may also consider a heavy cotton drill or canvas. We recommend a fabric weight of 300-400gsm (9-13oz). Cotton is required for the pocket bags to minimise bulk. Consider cotton twill, poplin, lawn or quilting cotton. This a chance to add a personal touch, so choose something that fits the bill!
Keep in mind that the weight of the fabric will determine the amount of structure and drape in your finished Burwood jeans.

The Burwood jeans are fitted at the waist and hip, then gently widen through the leg to create a relaxed barrel shape. View B does not have a barrel-leg and flares out slightly for a relaxed silhouette from the hip down. The HIP LINE is marked on the pattern. Select a size based on your hip measurement and grade at the waist if your waist and hip measurements are in different size brackets.
This pattern is drafted for a height of 170cm (5'7"). Use the LENGTHEN / SHORTEN lines on the pattern to make alterations to the length. We have included two so you can split alterations through the pant, or tailor length adjustments to your specific needs.
Pattern includes seam allowances.

Difficulty
The pattern is placed at a Level 3 on the In the Folds pattern skill scale, and has been designed for intermediate sewists and beyond. Through careful drafting and beautiful finishing techniques, this pattern will have you feeling very proud of both the inside and outside of your garment.
By working through this pattern, you will gain confidence in pants sewing techniques, including: sewing a jeans fly front, topstitching, sewing pleats, slant pockets, yokes, a shaped waistband, belt loops, patch pockets and working with denim.
Digital product details
The pattern is suitable for printing on both A4 and US letter sized paper. A copy shop version is also included in the file (A0 or US 36" x 48").
SIZE A - J
Print at home pattern: 58 pages (a printing plan is included in the instructions so that you can choose to only print the pages you need for your size or preferred view).
Print shop version: 3 x A0 pages.
SIZE G - P
Print at home pattern: 66 pages (a printing plan is included in the instructions so that you can choose to only print the pages you need for your size or preferred view).
Print shop version: 4 x A0 pages.
The pattern includes embedded layers. This means that you can select only the size/s you would like to print.

The Burwood jeans pattern is not currently available as a standalone product and is only available for purchase to current members of Curated by ITF. It will be released as a pattern in 2026.
