Darlow bag

The Darlow bag is a design for makers who are looking for something out-of-the-box to stretch their sewing muscles!

Inspired by our Darlow pants design, the pattern features striking panels that curve around to create an interesting and eye-catching shape, but also happen to make it perfect for colour-blocking and scrap-busting.

Make one for yourself and one for each of your friends! (Because you won’t be able to stop at one.)

Garment Details

Fun AND functionality are at the fore with the Darlow bag. Designed to be worn on the front of the body or on the side (over the right shoulder), this bag is both stylish and practical.

It features a side zip opening for the main compartment and a front pocket for storing smaller essentials. It is fully lined for a clean, polished interior finish. The bag includes a sturdy webbed strap with a buckle, plus an adjustable strap with a D-ring and slider for a customisable fit.

Suggested Fabrics

The Darlow bag is compatible with mid-weight woven fabrics with such as: cotton canvas (lightweight or midweight), cotton drill, denim and heavyweight nylon. Keep in mind that the weight of the fabric will determine the amount of structure in the finished bag. Choose fabric that has a stable weave and doesn't fray easily.

You will need fabric for the outer and for the lining. For the lining consider: poplin, lawn, batiste, and quilting weight cotton.

Fabric requirements and finished garment measurements can be found here.

The pattern lends itself well to colour blocking, and we have also included fabric requirements for colour blocking.
