Skills library

One of the challenges of pattern hacking is that you no longer have instructions for how to make the garment. We've solved this problem by including a range of resources to help you work out the best order of construction and fabric yardage, and we’ve included a deep dive into some specific sewing techniques that you may need for sewing your hacked shirt.

Please note: Although most of the hacks from the Marden shirt Hack Kit could be applied to a number of shirt patterns, the tutorials are based on the Marden shirt pattern. We'd suggest grabbing a copy of the pattern to support the skills you will be learning through this issue of Curated. We’ve created a range of different hacks for the Marden shirt pattern, so that no matter what your patternmaking experience is, there will be something for you.

New to pattern hacking? Start with some individual hacks, like drafting a patch pocket, altering the cuff shape or creating a high/low hem.
