Organise Your Space
The start of a new year or turn of a season means it's time to get organised!
It’s nice to start a new year or season fresh and make space to get all your creative juices flowing. We’ve made it easy with this Curated by ITF project - a resource to help you organise your space and keep on top of the clutter that goes hand in hand with being creative.
We’ll give you tips and resources for organising your sewing space and supplies. Plus we've included 3 patterns - pattern weights in 2 sizes, an overlocker thread catcher and a project bag! These projects are perfect for incorporating scraps and small off-cuts and will also make fantastic gifts for your crafty friends. You’ll be reaching for these patterns for many years to come!
Organise Your Space Resource
Keen to give your sewing space a lift, but not sure where to start?
No worries, that’s what we’re here for! Sometimes we just need a few prompts to help us see the potential.
This issue is full of tips to help you make the most of the space you have (we know that not everyone has a designated sewing space, and that’s okay!), and for making time to sew when time is short. We’ve got ideas for sorting, organising and storing your fabric stash and pattern library. Thoughts on how to plan future sewing projects and manage your WIPs. With our printable fabric labels, pattern specification sheet and project planning template you’ll be ready to dive into those sewing projects in the year ahead!
And, if you’ve ever wondered what someone else’s sewing space is like, we’re giving you a peek into our sewing rooms and we’ll be encouraging you to share your space in our community group!
In the theme of organising our spaces, we’ve included some handy patterns to help you with your sewing projects and to practise new skills!
The Pattern Weights pattern is a great scrap busting pattern that is super useful for your sewing room! Use these handmade tools to hold your patterns in place while cutting or pattern making. It’s a quick and easy sew, and great practice for sharpening up your hand sewing skills!
The Project bag is perfect for storing all your latest projects including patterns, fabrics and trims. They’ll also make it easy to keep on top of projects when you’re cutting more than one project at a time. Keep your sewing space organised with these handy accessories. We've included a front pocket that fits both A4 and US paper size instructions so you've always got them on-hand as you sew. You can also add an optional clear pocket so you can easily identify what's inside.
The Overlocker Thread Catcher pattern is the perfect companion to your overlocker/serger. Simply place underneath the overlocker and let it catch all your threads and scraps as you sew! Having somewhere to drop all those little threads and scraps in your sewing space will make cleaning up after a sewing session a breeze.
